Enabling the feature
- Visit the settings portal and select your child’s device.
- Scroll down to the “Podcasts (beta)” section and toggle the switch to the on position.
Podcasts will now be enabled on your child’s device. You can control which podcasts are available using the checkboxes beside the podcast names.
Note: This feature requires that Intelligent Responses are enabled.
Choosing a podcast
As with other features, press and hold the button and tell Poppy what you’d like to do. For example:
- “I want to listen to a podcast”
- “Play Greeking Out”
- “Play the latest episode of Circle Round”
- “Play the episode called ‘Lighting a Spark’ from Circle Round”
If you don’t ask for a particular episode, Poppy will play the most recent episode, or the next one in order if you’ve been listening to older episodes.
In general, Poppy knows the titles and dates of all the episodes for each podcast. If the Web Search feature is enabled, Poppy will also be able to handle more complicated requests such as “Play the episode of Circle Round about honesty”.
Controlling playback
To pause playback, tap the button.
To resume, tap the button again. If it’s been more than a few minutes, you will need to ask Poppy to play the podcast again. Playback will resume from where you left off.
To adjust volume, press the button and ask Poppy as you normally would. Playback will resume automatically.
To play an episode from the beginning, skip ahead or rewind, just ask naturally. For example “Play the episode from the beginning” or “Skip a few minutes”.
