Using the Music Feature

Learn how to add songs and use the music feature on your device.

Enabling the feature

  1. Visit the settings portal and select your child’s device.
  2. Scroll down to the “Music (beta)” section and toggle the switch to the on position.

Music will now be enabled on your child’s device. The song list will be empty until you add songs.

Note: This feature requires that Intelligent Responses are enabled.

Adding songs

  1. In the “Music (beta)” section, click “Add song”.
  2. Choose the audio file you want to add from your computer.
  3. Enter the title your child will use when asking for the song.
  4. Click “OK” to save the song.

Tip: especially for younger children, it’s important to set the title to whatever name the child uses for the song - even if it’s not the true title.

Managing songs

The music list shows the songs currently available on the device. To remove a song, click the “X” beside the song title.

Playing music

As with other features, press and hold the button and say what you’d like to do. For example:

  • “Play music”
  • “Play [title of song]”

If you ask to play music without naming a particular song, the full collection will play in a random order.

Controlling playback

To pause playback, tap the button.

To resume, tap the button again. If it’s been more than a few minutes, you will need to ask to play music again.

To adjust volume, press the button and ask as you normally would. Playback will resume automatically.
